Option 1
One such school of thought is that the City should sell, or lease, the 16 acres to one or more private developers for commercial mixed-use development such as housing, retail space, commercial, and light industrial (maker spaces).
Option 2
Another school of thought is that the 16 acres should be developed exclusively as a community and tourism destination called Lake Natoma Park consisting of an iconic California Water Imaginarium, a Folsom Dam Visitors Center, an earth friendly Nature Center, and many cultural heritage interpretations within a re-wilded Park. Funding would come from private grants, government grants, and public monies.
Option 3
The most recent school of thought is that the City should take action to have the 16 acres declared surplus property under the California Surplus Property Act which would require that the City sell the Corp Yard to the highest bidder, with some or all of the property being devoted to residential and low-income housing with the remainder, if any, being mixed-use development.
